Why Bother With A Boiler Replacement In Scotland?
Before we jump into the schemes that will get you access to a free boiler in Scotland, let’s take a quick look at why you might want a new boiler to begin with. What are the main benefits of upgrading your boiler?
| Energy Efficiency | New boilers are far more energy efficient than older, fossil fuel fired boilers. Combi boilers are much more effective at heating a home quickly, so you spend less time with your heating on as a result. |
| Greener Options | Older boilers produce far more carbon emissions than newer models. This is part of the reason why the Scottish government is so keen to encourage people to upgrade their boilers with grants and schemes, to help reduce carbon emissions across the board. |
| Reduce Energy Bills | Because your heating will be on less with a new boiler, your energy bills will come down, too. That means additional savings for you. |
| Enjoy A Comfortable Home | Your home will not only get up to temperature quicker with a new boiler, it’ll also stay there more easily with faster response times when your house temperature dips below your set threshold. |
| Reduced Costs | And now, thanks to grants and schemes available in Scotland, it’s never been cheaper to upgrade your boiler – and some might even get one for free. |
How Eco Grants Can Help You Secure A Free Boiler Scotland
Remember, not everybody will qualify for a free boiler in Scotland, but there are plenty of people that will. The funding is already available thanks to the Scottish government, but so many households aren’t applying because they don’t know that they’re entitled to the support. That’s where Eco Grants by ZOA Energy Solutions comes in.
As eco home improvement grant experts, we know eco grants and schemes in Scotland like the back of our hands. Below we’ll cover the main grants and schemes in Scotland that could lead you to a free boiler.
How To Get A Free Boiler Scotland
Free boilers in Scotland are accessible through two main avenues:
- Warmer Homes Scotland
- ECO4
But they aren’t available to just anybody. In order to get grant support for your new boiler upgrade, you’ll first need to qualify. Let’s take a look at the different grants and schemes below and their aims and eligibility criteria to better understand who qualifies for support for a free boiler in Scotland.
How Can Warmer Homes Scotland Help With A Free Boiler?
Warmer Homes Scotland is a Scottish government programme aimed at supporting households that are unable to stay warm in their homes or keep up with rising energy bills. A range of eco home improvement measures are covered by the programme, such as:
- Wall insulation
- Renewables
- Loft insulation
- And, of course, boiler upgrades
The programme was paused between 31st March 2023 and 02nd October 2023, but when available will continue offering support to the most vulnerable households in Scotland.
Who Is Eligible For Support With Warmer Homes Scotland?
The programme is designed to help the most vulnerable households in Scotland make eco home improvements that make their home warmer and more comfortable to live in. Better yet, the scheme is designed to offer assistance to both homeowners and private sector tenants who are struggling to heat their homes and are struggling to pay their energy bills.
There is, however, certain eligibility criteria that’ll need to be met to qualify for support.
